What is Audio and Digital Transcription
Transcription is a common practice for many different industries but some are more prone to having translation company services while others hire digital transcription more often. While these two have the same end result, the processes are different.
Translation company is the older form of this service. This is when cassette tapes have been used to record the audio. When they are sent to a transcriptionist, the person has to play the recordings on a tape recorder and type as they listen. If they miss something, they have to rewind it. This is not such an efficient method but it gets the job done.
Digital transcription is the technologically more advanced form of this industry and there are many different types of media that are compatible with the software used. There is a special type of software required and this software can upload various files at the same time in some cases and you still have the playback option. This method requires the audio transcription to be uploaded to the computer through the player and the USB cable. Some of the media that is compatible include DSS, WAV, MP3, VOX, CDA and many more.
With either of these methods, the client still gets the text form of their recording in their hand – it is just the media type and the process that are different.
When we think about translation services, we might just think about from one language to another, and when we think of transcription services, putting audio into a typed format might come into mind. While these two though processes are technically true, these two services are often offered by the same company, thus making it quite convenient for someone who might need both.
There is a difference in these services but the two works together very nicely. There are some occasions where documents must be translated from one language to another after the transcription has been done or even transcription from the audio tape of another language immediately into the document in the desired languages. This can be done multiple times is many different languages depending on the company.
